Yoga
«Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.» –
The Bhagavad Gita
My yoga practice and teaching are deeply rooted in the principles of Vinyasa Krama Yoga and Rocket Yoga, while incorporating elements of Bhakti, such as mantra chanting with the harmonium. For me, yoga is not just a physical practice but a holistic approach to living mindfully, connected to ourselves and the world around us.
Vinyasa Krama Yoga
With 500 hours of certification in Vinyasa Krama Yoga (2016), I follow the traditional practice of moving with intention and breath. Vinyasa Krama emphasizes a step-by-step progression, adapting the practice to the individual, allowing for both a deep internal connection and a meditative flow of postures.
Rocket Yoga
I also completed a 50-hour intensive Rocket Yoga teacher training (2024), a dynamic and creative style of yoga designed to make Ashtanga Yoga more accessible. Rocket Yoga is known for its fast-paced sequences, arm balances, and playful inversions, with the goal of breaking down barriers and encouraging practitioners to explore their physical limits in an empowering way.
The essence of Rocket Yoga aligns with my personal philosophy in several key ways:
- Living in the Quest: Trusting intuition and learning from experience, each practice becomes a journey of self-discovery and exploration.
- Practice What You Teach, Teach What You Practice: Rocket Yoga is like a laboratory where I use my own experiences to inform my teaching, constantly evolving through practice.
- Function Over Form: Rather than focusing on achieving perfect poses, the priority is on how the practice feels, encouraging creativity and freedom in movement.
- Drishti – Turning Attention Inwards: The gaze is gently directed inward, encouraging mindfulness, focus, and a deeper connection to the present moment.
- Control and Surrender: In both life and yoga, we learn to act without attachment to the outcome. This balance between control and letting go creates simplicity, and from that simplicity, peace arises.
- Nauliland – Community and Transformation: Rocket Yoga fosters a strong sense of community, connection, and shared growth, which is a core element of my teaching approach. I believe that transformation happens not only individually but also through collective energy and support.
Ayurveda and the Cosmic Connection
Alongside these distinct practices, my teaching is also influenced by the Ayurvedic cosmovision. This philosophy acknowledges that the same rules apply in both the macrocosm and microcosm. We are governed by the five elements—earth, water, fire, air, and ether—and the changing seasons, which shape our physical, mental, and emotional states. I integrate this understanding into my approach, using Ayurveda’s wisdom to create balance and harmony in every practice.
In all my classes—whether Vinyasa Krama or Rocket Yoga—I blend Bhakti elements, like chanting mantras, to create a holistic, spiritual experience for my students. I also greatly enjoy curating thoughtful playlists to complement the practice, enhancing the overall atmosphere and experience the wisdom of Ayurveda to create balance and harmony in every practice.
